First two cars of Train 1 arrived at the depot yesterday, (Tuesday), delivery of the other six cars should be completed by Tuesday 6th december. Next two cars in the depot, two more due for next Monday and last two for next Tuesday. All the cars of train 2, the final 09 to be delivered now in the depot under test. All that remains now is to get train 20 back from repair at Derby and the full fleet of 09 stock will be on the Vic. I presume after train 20 is returned, the last 67 will depart for pastures new.

Used as a depot shunter when the 09 stock cars arrive, one of the four car 67TS is used to take each car from the delivery road (19 road) to one of the shed roads (normally 39 road). This is what was happening on Saturday morning when the group were up at the depot.

Why dont they keep it there, and use it as some kind of Vic line only engineers train?

Why dont they keep it there, and use it as some kind of Vic line only engineers train? Maintenance? Spare parts? I wonder if it will go to Easteigh or Booths? 60+61 was a great train, one of the quicker 67's. Suddenly realised how much I miss them.

Both units have do not scrap notes in every car, so there is some sort of plan for them. These two units were the last ones I operated in service, so would like to see them have a few more years, 61 unit was always a good 4 car no matter what it was coupled up to. Some people may remember that this unit was also one of the units used when the company was trying to find it's colour scheme for trains, it was red front, bule from the cant rail level to just below the windows and white down from there.

If both units have the 'Do Not Scrap' signs in them I suspect they are destined for Eastleigh or are earmarked for for other uses (Acton Works shunter or ERU training aid). We originally had 3060 earmarked for the AIT Project, but luckily we got 3079 instead as the wheels on 3060 are far too small to support anything other brake testing.
Looks like 3060 is for storage and 3061 for ERU, but of course that may change.
EDIT - surprised no one mentioned the Battery Locos that were visible at Northumberland Park last weekend. They've been there for weeks.
Regards,
Dan

It looks as though 3060 and 3061 will stay at NPD until Train 20 returns from Derby (February-ish?) for it to be 'shunted' and formed up.
In the meantime T1/48 in service from 16/12 and Train 2/49 from 20/12.
And that's it !!

Bumped into train 1 three times in the last 2 days! You can see how dirty the 09 stock seats have become when you compare them to train 1's lovely clean ones!

Agreed - the cheap seat covers they have used in the new trains are a disgrace.
